Group email: Local History group
When: On Wednesday all day
2nd of the month

Our friendly group meets on the second Wednesday of each month and visits often last into the afternoon (dependent on travel). We visit places of historical interest in the local area and London. At the start of the year we have a meeting and put forward suggestions of where we would like to visit. Once these are agreed, members of the group, either individually or in pairs, will plan and lead each of the visits. Travel is  by public transport using our Freedom passes and we tend to stop for coffee, a snack or lunch, depending on availability and location. The group is currently active and we have our full quota of members. However, there is a waiting list for anyone interested in joining us.

May 2026 : Keats House Hampstead

Local history group managed to dodge the showers on a visit to Keats House in Hampstead, the home of the romantic poet John Keats from 1818 -1821. He left here for Rome in September 1820, where he died in 1821 from TB at the age of 25.             A lovely little house, enjoyed by all
