May outing : Nunhead to Peckham
We were meeting at Lewisham to catch a train to Nunhead, just one stop, unfortunately there was a problem at this station. We had to catch a bus through Lewisham, Hilly Fields and Brockley. At Nunhead there is a Garden centre under the railway arches, it was packed with plants. There are lots of narrow tunnels selling more than just plants and all your garden requirements. It was a cold day, but staying dry we walked to find a coffee shop. Nine of us filled the little cafe. From here we found our way to Peckham Rye Common and on to Peckham Rye Park. There is on going work being done here, with many roses having been cleared, so incomplete beds with a mix of roses and peony. The wisteria was out on the old arches. It now started to rain so we hurried off to the cafe in the park for lunch. To get back home we caught a bus to Peckham Rye station to catch a train to London Bridge. With a little help from Friends it worked.
