General Information about this Group :
Family History
We meet in the Archives Room at Bexleyheath Library. There we are able to use their computers, accessing Ancestry for free.
We discuss a topic each month, such as Wills and Probate, Censuses, Maps, or Workhouses, and help each other with our family trees.
Occasionally we arrange an outing to somewhere like The National Archives.
Family History Update, May 2026
This month we all brought an inherited family treasure to talk about. These included pots made from bombshells, a Polish Bible, Grandmother’s photos and marriage certificates, and a knitted doll’s hat, a brooch, photo of a fur trade sewing machine (in Wendy’s loft), an autograph book and lucky monkey mascot, and a book written by Jan’s cousin about his solo journey along the Amazon, earning him a Guinness World Record.
An enjoyable trip down memory lane!

2025 Family History Annual Report
This last year we welcomed 4 new members to the group.
Our topics included Gedcom transfer, Maps, Workhouses, and care for the destitute prior to Workhouses.. We looked at Irish Ancestry, the History of Knoll Road, and had a visit to The National Archives at Kew. We assist and support each other with our research..
We do have vacancies if anyone would like to join the group
