Family History
We meet in the Archives Room at Bexleyheath Library. There we are able to use their computers, accessing Ancestry for free.
We discuss a topic each month, such as Wills and Probate, Censuses, Maps, or Workhouses, and help each other with our family trees.
Occasionally we arrange an outing to somewhere like The National Archives.
August 2026
In August we recalled our childhood holidays, and recollections of stories of those our parents enjoyed in their youth.
We also discussed the hop picking “holidays” many Londoners enjoyed in Kent.
“The Hop Pickers” by Nathan Dylan Goodwin is a genealogical crime novel set in 1920’s Kent
2025 Family History Annual Report
This last year we welcomed 4 new members to the group.
Our topics included Gedcom transfer, Maps, Workhouses, and care for the destitute prior to Workhouses.. We looked at Irish Ancestry, the History of Knoll Road, and had a visit to The National Archives at Kew. We assist and support each other with our research..
