Christmas Meal & Book Discussion
We enjoyed a Festive Lunch at The Star, Sidcup Place in December.
January 2026 Update
At January’s meeting we looked back at the books we read last year, choosing our favourites.
Top was Small Great Things, followed by Old Herbacios and You are here. A good mix of genres. Happily all our books we’re enjoyed! A successful year!
Human Traces by Sebastian Faulks, chosen by Joe.
This book follows an English doctor and a French doctor from a Victorian Mental Asylum, through their training in psychiatric medicine in France, to their mountain top Swiss clinic. From late 19th.century to early 20th.century we found the account of early psychiatry often an uneasy read, but we all engaged with the doctors and their families, and their aims to help the mentally ill, giving it 8/10
